Tajo Kadajas has been one of the most recognisable voices in
Estonian music for more than two decades. Meie
is one of the earliest experiemental rock bands in Estonia, hitting the
rock scene in the early 1970s. Alongside Ruja,
Meie became one of the most ingenious bands that opened the country to
adventurous music, in which singer Tajo Kadajas called "intellectual rock.
His distinctive voice and singing style has been successful in loud rockers
and soft ballads alike, with a unique ability to evoke emotion in the listener. From
his days fronting the ground-breaking progressive rock band Noor-Eesti
to more recent solo efforts, Kadajas has been among the forefront of Estonian
popular music. His wide range of style can be experienced in this new release
- which also includes some classics, most notable the late '70s hit by
Noor-Eesti
- "Ühes väikses Eesti linnas" (In One Little Town of Estonia).
Kadajas also demonstrate his skills as a songwriter with this release.
In the beautiful "Kas sina hõikad?" (Are You Calling?), Kadajas
creates an emotional hit using the poetry of Viivi Luik. On the poppy "Kuldne
tee" (The Golden Way) and others that he penned, Kadajas has a string of
potential radio-friendly hits. With the release of this CD, Tajo Kadajas
proves that he's once again a force to be reckoned with in the Estonian
pop music scene. Decades since his appearance on the Estonian stage, his
unique voice remains as distinctive as ever.
